The advice we provide
This website explains our personal protection service: life insurance, critical illness cover, income protection and family income benefit. We provide a recommendation based on the needs and circumstances discussed with you. The insurer provides the insurance and makes its underwriting and claim decisions.
We consider your existing arrangements, financial commitments, dependants and budget. We explain what we recommend, why it is suitable and the important limitations. If you proceed, we help with the application and explain any revised terms offered by the insurer before you decide.
The insurers we consider
We compare relevant policies from our panel and make a personal recommendation based on your needs and circumstances.
Our protection panel includes Aviva, The Exeter, Guardian, Legal & General, LV=, Royal London, Scottish Widows, Zurich, Shepherds Friendly and Cirencester Friendly. Not every provider offers every type of cover. We explain the reasons for our recommendation and the important policy differences.
Who we act for
We act on your behalf when advising on and arranging your protection insurance.
Our ownership relationships with insurers
MRG Finance Group Limited does not hold, directly or indirectly, 10% or more of the voting rights or capital in an insurer. No insurer or insurer’s parent company holds, directly or indirectly, 10% or more of the voting rights or capital in MRG Finance Group Limited.
No customer fees
We do not charge you a fee for our personal protection advice or for arranging your policy. If you take out a policy through us, the insurer pays us commission. You pay the premium for the insurance you choose. Ask us if you would like more information about how we are paid.
A benefit offered by an insurer may have an additional premium or service charge. We explain relevant costs as part of the recommendation; “no customer fees” does not mean that insurance or every additional benefit is free.
Support after you arrange cover
You can contact us about documents, changes in circumstances or concerns about affordability. For a policy arranged through TrustCover, we can explain how to start a claim, help you understand the information the insurer requests, liaise with the insurer with your permission and chase progress. The insurer assesses the claim and decides whether it meets the policy conditions. You can also approach the insurer directly.
We will explain any further review or ongoing service specifically agreed with you. Arranging cover does not automatically promise an annual review appointment.
Your information and your decision
Please answer application questions honestly and with reasonable care. If you are unsure, or an answer changes before cover starts, tell us. Incorrect or incomplete information can affect the cover or a claim.
Read the recommendation and policy documents before proceeding. You can ask questions, take more time or decide not to continue. Do not cancel existing cover until the replacement terms and start date have been confirmed and the implications reviewed.
An enquiry or application is not confirmation that insurance is in place. The insurer confirms the start of cover and any conditions. Your policy documents explain your cancellation rights and any refund arrangements.
Complaints and compensation
Our Complaints Procedure explains how to raise a concern and the potential route to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
You may be entitled to compensation from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme if a regulated firm cannot meet its obligations. Eligibility and the protection available depend on the activity and circumstances. Protection for advice or arranging insurance can differ from protection following an insurer’s failure. See the FSCS insurance information for details.
Our Privacy Notice explains how we use your information. If you need service information in another format or help understanding it, please contact us.
